USE OF SANDTRAYS IN PLAY THERAPY

This course will introduce the use of sand tray therapy as a therapeutic technique to be used in play therapy. It will explore the history and rationale of sandtray therapy and cover fundamental and sandtray techniques with individuals, families and groups. Participants will have the opportunity to experience sandtray activities and will explore and process sandtray therapy.
1.Participants will have an understanding of the history and rationale for sandtray therapy and its’ connection to play therapy.
2.Participants will be able to identify and distinguish sand play and sand tray therapy.
3.Participants will gain knowledge of how to select appropriate sand, trays, and play therapy miniatures.
4.Participants will learn and observe how to set up and categorize miniatures.
5.Participants will identify 2 ways that sand tray therapy integrates left brain and right brain
6.Participants will learn to document sand
7.Participants will have an opportunity to explore and process a non-directive sandtray.
8.Participants will have the opportunity to explore and process a directive sandtray.
9.Participants will have the opportunity to practice implementing a sandtray.
Training 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM (15 minute breaks at 2:45 PM and 7 PM, 30 minute break at4:45 PM)
Training 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM (15 minute breaks at 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM, 1 hour break at 12:30 PM)
*Must be present the whole training, no partial credit given. Cancellations received at least 5 days prior to schedule training are refundable less a $35 administration fee. Cancellations within 5 days prior to scheduled training or missed trainings (no shows) will not be given a refund. Play therapy credit may not be awarded to non-mental health professionals
